THE WONDERLAND OF VIETNAMESE STAMPS _98

Ocean is a human common property, making up 3/4 total area of the earth. Ocean - a rich natural resource plays a key role in making the climate milder and in maintaining the life on the earth as well. In order to protect the environment _ natural resource of ocean, the United Nations decided to choose the year of 1998 as "International Year of the Ocean" _ approved a special programme with the subject "Ocean is a human common property" and appeal member-countries, their leaders and the public to preserve oceanic environment, prevent all negative effects caused everywhere _ every time by man.

On the occasion of this important event, Department General of Posts _ Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "International Year of the Ocean" with one value of 400d. The stampset shows the symbol of two hands taking a loving care of _ protecting the oceanic environment from pollution.
