In the Spring of 1968 - thirty years ago, the Liberation armed forces and people throughout the South of Vietnam rose up in concert to attack US and US-backed Vietnamese military bases, and gained resounding victories . The 1968 General Offensive dealt a fatal blow to US aggressors and their agents and was written down in the national heroic history against foreign invaders. |
In 1998, in order to mark this event, Department General of Posts _ Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "30th Anniversary of "Tet Mau Than" General Offensive (1968-1998)" with one value of 400d "Complete Victory will certainly be ours".
This set features the image of rifle, narrow-brimmed soft cap, striped scarf - typical costumes of the South Vietnam Liberation armed forces and people during anti-US resistance war, together with that of the concerted uprisings in Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang _ Sai Gon - the well-known places then. The upper is the stylized No.30 as the blue wing of peace pigeon expressing the national reunification.
