Boat-race, a national sport, has since long become one of Vietnamese traditional festivals.
Boat-races are annually held in different locations from the North through the Centre & South of Vietnam. The festival in each location has its own characteristics depending on local customs & practices.
Boat-race represents not only a competition for strength but also ceremonies for Happiness, Health, Timely Rains & Favourable Weather to bring them prosperity.
This festival along with other traditional ones have partly formed Vietnam's national identity. In order to introduce one among Vietnamese festivals, Department General of Posts & Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "Boat-race" consisting of three values:

 The 3-2: Boat - race in the Centre |
 The 3-3: Boat - race in the South |
