     Fire came into being on the Earth through man's working process at the dawn of humanity. It's always around us & indispensable to human existence. However, the flame is also very fierce causing unexpected consequence when fire happens.

     Every year, thousands of big & small fires happen in Vietnam and other countries as well. Many big fires have destroyed all material base of State or individual and simultaneously killed a lot of people.

     That's why fire prevention & fight to protect the achievement in the cause of national construction is the Government's primary concern. It's President Ho Chi Minh who signed Decree on fire prevention & fight on October 4, 1961. The State law has been propagandized to the whole people & many fire-men forces have been founded at all levels, supporting specialised forces in order to carry out their task more effectively. Therefore, October 4 is chosen as the Traditional Day of Fire-men force and all people as well.

     In the country's renovation, the process of urbinisation become quicker & quicker throught the country, the more huge, modern material bases are built, the more important fire prevention & fight is; and fire-men forces need to be equipped with more effective & advanced facilities.

     To mark the Day of All Prevent & Fight against Fire - October 4, on 15.5.2000, Department General of Posts & Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "Fire-engine" of block 4, presenting 4 among various models availble in Vietnam now.

* The 1st; 400d:
Fire - engine IVECO MAGIRUS (Germany) - This model is able to park unfavourable terrain, slope of 30 cm. It consists of automatic safety system, 52- metre ladder which is controlled through computer-screen to define the height of building, angle, wind power and to transport fire-men & fire-facilities, and victims by stretcher. This model is covenient for fighting against fire in the high building.

* The 2nd; 1,000d:
Fire - engine HINO (Japan) - It is a small-sized model which is able to drive in narrow alley. It has 63 - cubic metre water container which can take water up directly to provide for other fire-engines or stamp fire out timely by its pump.

* The 3rd; 5,000d :
Fire - engine ???130 E (Russia) - It can stamp fire out effectively by using water - pump or alkali (a chemical substance) for burned liquid, in spite of 400 metres far from the fire.

* The 4th; 12,000d:
Fire - engine FPS.32 CAMIVA (Republic of France) - Its function is similar to that of IVECO MAGIRUS, but its ladder is 32 metres in height & without screen.
