"Preventing cigarette harm "

Code: 864

Millions of people die from smoking-related diseases annually in the world of which lung-cancer accounts for between 60% - 80%.

The World Health Organization (W.H.O) reports that cigarettes cast negative effects on health and social development, killing millions of people. W.H.O calls all nations for responding to an appeal of no smoking and chooses May 31 as the "World Day of Non-Smoker".

Following the appeal of W.H.O, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health recommends that "smoking is harmyul for health" and appeals them to "give up smoking".

On "World Day of Non-Smoker", the Department General of Posts and Telecommunications issues the stampset "Preventing cigarette harm" with face value of VND800.

The image on the stamp is one curved and stubbed out cigarette beside one blooming flower bud. That is an appeal to remind everyone of cigarette's danger and admonish them to avoid and give up smoking in order to head for a brighter life.
