There are about 1.5 million mushroom species in the world, which have been listed by sciencetists in a saparate order. In Vietnam, there are 850 - 900 species of big mushrooms and 100 species of small ones. They are divided into three groups: eatable mushrooms, medicinal ones and the group for environmental hygiene & ecological balance.
There are many families of mushroom growing everywhere in the world; they are multiform and colourful. The eatable mushrooms are delicious and nutritious. The medicinal mushrooms can be used for treatment of cancer and enhancement of physical strength & health. The poisonous fungi can be highly lethal (some poisonous fungi can kill three people who eat only one piece).
In order to introduce some mushroom species in Vietnam and the world, the Department General of Posts & Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "Flower Mushrooms" consisting of 7 values and 1 block. The stampset presents some kinds of multiform mushrooms resembling like colourful flowers and flower buds. The special smell of their spore always absorbs insects to scatter them. Mushrooms grow well in places where there is grass, litter and insects in natural environment popularly found in tropical and subtropical areas.
