The Nobel Prize is the most famous award in the world, brought into life in memory of Alfred Nobel (1833-1896), a Swedish scientist in the 19th century, who gave all his property worth 33 million of Swedish cuaron to found the award fund entitled Nobel Prize in favor of those contributing greatly to mankind. The first Nobel prizes were conferred in 1901 for physics, chemistry, physiology, medicines, literature and peace.
The Department General of Posts and Telecommunications (DGPT) issues a special stamp set entitled "100th anniversary of Nobel Prize (1901-2001)" on this occasion.
